Karaoke Bar Singer

They name this bars “café”. 

The name / purpose was copied from the Japan in the 198x which meant karaoke (KTV). At that time they had a real strong growing rate, everything in the hospitality business which brings revenue is copied in Thailand. 

Even today they have several franchise fairs where they try to find some ideas in this segments they could make money with. 

The best example is MacDonald’s & KFC. Although the cafés are not organized they can be handled easily and bring income, nobody drinks coffee there anyway it’s just a name. What is the main stuff consumed? Whisky and beer and in the back are so called VIP  lounges or where all activities to make the guys happy are handled, sometimes only dimming the light and doing it manually. Plenty of girls hang around who help the clients drinking and singing having plenty of fun.

Often singing is not so good at all and if some drunken guys enter the stage it gets ugly since they have no idea how to sing anyway. Some of the ladies don’t start to make noise they just do “playback” here called “lipsing”.

That’s on every night except certain holidays when they are not allowed to serve alcohol. If you want to give it a try just do it nobody will ever criticize you or lough about it since it is normal although it’s mostly lousy and turns to bawling.

A interesting thing with this places is that around 30% of the young women working there are lesbians so don’t think about is you try to “land” and you won’t since they rather prefer the women, other maybe prefer ladyboys etc. In Thailand there is a colorful “helter skelter” with any peoples orientation, up, down, back, forward, just name it.

Doing some singing in a Karaoke or KTV box is popular.

What is the negative side? Yes, most of the guys are singing so awful that you better run away, especially when they are already drunk. 

The girls are coming onto the stage and sing there. Most can do this somehow and other really good, although they get the lyrics from the screen which is mounted in front. Finally this is a way to present the Thai Girls to the audience which are mostly local guys, some Koreans, Japanese and Chinese. 



They have very pretty costumes (see the pictures) which bring the body into a good shape and make room for plenty of imagination since not much textile is used but the cuts and decoration is nice artwork.

Beside of the "sexy thing" who move on the stage they have some KTV "boxes" in the back which can be rented, usually groups take them for drinking and singing. Everyone wants some fun in the night, often they turn down the light and it gets physical, that's the business. Nobody really cares much, they just do it, read more.

Everything is streamlined in this business to entertain the guys. 

Earning with it is the main target, nevertheless. This is a nice entertainment and the ladies are the spices to get a great evening for everyone, on top of it they make money with it.

Since life is limited and too short for endless nonsense it is the best to ignore all this philosophic values who tell this business with the girls is no good etc. because the opposite is true it's not up to us to live to the values of some peasants in the Middle East from 2000 years ago.
