The country would be a great place to invest some money.

Unfortunately there is far too much cheating around to do safe retirement Investments all administrative and legal ways are made in a way to pull money from the foreigner only and give nothing sustainable in exchange. 

The fact is it is not allowed legally that a foreigner owns any majority in a business or in real estate. There are many attempts by local people to circumvent this but all are illegal without exceptions whatever people are telling you, they lie, they want your money that's it anything after they secured the deal is irrelevant. 

There was a small exception made some time ago where they allowed that a foreigner can have a majority stake in a software company, that's it and some use this as front end now and actually do something else in the back. Usually they try real estate, but however it's turned, it's illegal and if someone don't like you anymore you will loose everything whatever some lawyer etc. told you, it's a lie and you are the victim.
